The average age of individuals who self-harm is between 11-15 years while the normally distributed age ranges from 10–24. An estimation of around 6% to 7% of teens have more than one period of time where they have caused harm to themselves within the past year and in total, almost a quarter of all teens and young adults report practicing self injury only once in their life.During the study of self-injury evidence suggests that individuals with a history of more than one episode of self-injury but who are other wise doing alright in life, most people stop within 5 years of starting.
